“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
—Matthew 5:16
In response to the #LightTheWorld campaign for Day 25, we sent out the invitation to share your testimonies of our Savior Jesus Christ. This is what we received.
“This phrase, ‘Jesus, the very thought of Thee, with sweetness fills my breast’, is true for me. I feel of His divinity when I sing of Him, view pictures of Him, think of Him, learn of Him, pray in His name, keep His commandments and help others. I trust Him because He loves me. His atonement has made it possible for everyone to experience joy in this life and in the world to come.”
-JaLayne from Salvador, Brazil
“Jesus Christ brings peace to my life and to my heart every day of the year. Perhaps a story would help explain. Last night, I was feeling weighed down by a particularly intense challenge I am going through. It was hard for me to breathe. Impossible to relax. Just so much stress. I had been praying for help and hope to get out of ‘the sinking feeling’–and then I heard the song, ‘O Holy Night’ playing in the background. As I listened, the words, ‘He knows our needs. Our weakness is no stranger’ penetrated my heart–accompanied by a loving voice that said, ‘I know what you need. I know you are struggling. I am here to help you. You don’t have to carry this alone.’ Almost immediately, the pain eased, and I started to think of ways to solve the problem that had been weighing me down. This is one little experience, but it represents what happens consistently when I remember to come to my Redeemer. I am so grateful for this time of year when we can all more fully focus on Him and His majesty.”
-April
“I believe that Christ is the center of everything. The best way for my joy to be full and strong is when I remember this. Every good thing is from Him. When I am helping a child learn and feel successful, I am closer to Him. When I am enjoying building a healthy relationship, I am closer to Him. When I am growing as I experience hard things and learn from them, I am closer to Him. I love Jesus Christ and how He makes it possible for me to be clean. I believe He came to this earth and suffered for each of our sins that we can have the fullest of joys.”
-Missy from Salt Lake City, Utah
“Jesus Christ is an example for me in the way He treated others. Every time I see someone in difficult circumstances, I try to remember he or she is my brother or sister, and that our Elder Brother, Jesus Christ, would love them & serve them & show kindness to them, no matter what their outward appearance might be. I try to let His love shine through my smile, words, & actions.”
-Kai from Zhenjiang, China.
“I Stand All Amazed at the love and sacrifice that our Savior has given us. Jesus Christ is the source of my peace, confidence, hope, desire to do good, and my testimony. He lives! His life is real, His Atonement is real, and His love is perfect. He is my best friend through every experience. Without Easter, there would be no Christmas. Truly, He is the Son of God and our Elder Brother.”
-Debi from Seattle, Washington
“I am grateful for Christ’s love, His example, and His grace. He understands whatever problems and trials I am going through, and I can turn to him for understanding and strength. Because of His atonement, I can repent. Because of Him, I know I will be resurrected and be able to return to my Father in Heaven. As The Living Christ says: ‘God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son.'”
-Carla from Portland, Oregon
“The prophets in the holy scriptures testify of the life and mission of Jesus Christ. That Christ, the Son of God, was born into this world, ministered among the people, suffered for the sins of all the world, was judged of men, was crucified, and was resurrected, thus fulfilling His role as Savior and Redeemer. The Holy Ghost has witnessed to me that Jesus is the Christ and that He is my Savior and Redeemer.”
-Kent from Portland, Oregon
What’s one way Jesus has been an example in your life?
“We’ve dealt with a pornography addiction in our marriage and although my testimony is still struggling in some aspects, I am grateful for the peace that I have felt knowing that Christ has felt what I am feeling and that one day I can feel whole again.”
How can the spirit of Christmas stay with you throughout the year?
“I love the Christmas season because it reminds everyone to take an extra minute or an extra dollar or an extra effort to help someone else. I think that’s the best way that I can keep Christmas with me; to be sure and look out for my fellow brothers and sisters and be willing to serve those around me.”

“The great news of the gospel, is that Jesus Christ lives. He rose victorious over the grave. He conquered all of our sins. He overcame all the challenges and trials of this mortal life. No matter our struggle or adversity, self-inflicted or imposed by other people or circumstances, Jesus Christ is the answer. When we look unto Him we live. We live with greater joy and peace in this life and ultimately are able to have eternal life. I love Him. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His Son.”
-Todd from Sparks, Nevada
“I am truly amazed at the love Jesus offers me. I feel of his mercy constantly as I put forth my imperfect efforts and in return, am blessed to feel of His perfect love for me. He is kind and merciful. He came to this earth so that we can find happiness in this life and hope for the next. I know He is real. He wants us to come to know Him. One way I have come to know him has been through deep, meaningful, and honest prayer. I have felt that when I come to Him feeling broken, He takes me and heals me and gives me strength and fills me with His love. He makes me better and enables me to do all things I need to. I love my Savior!”
-Ashley from Provo, Utah
“Everything I am and everything I want to become is a result of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and His life is an example and template for what I want to be. Jesus Christ is my strength. He has held me in his arms as an elder brother would when I’ve felt paralyzed by fear or insecurities and has held me up when I felt like I was too weak to hold myself up. As I have come to know Him better, He teaches me to humble myself. He teaches me to surrender my own will and trust that the will of the Father brings me lasting peace and joy that I can’t duplicate on my own. His Atonement teaches me of my responsibility to love and to serve and to care for and succor those who suffer in this life. It teaches me that there is no room to judge others when I, myself am so imperfect. His suffering on the cross teaches me to receive good gifts and to strive each day to give good gifts in return. His love is infinite. I feel it daily, even when I feel I don’t deserve to. I am grateful and indebted to my Heavenly Father for the gift of His Son, and to the Savior for His Atoning sacrifice. God is so good to me. Jesus Christ is MY Savior. He is kind. I love Him.”
-Tarah
“Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year, and I break all the rules by listening to Christmas music year round. It reminds me of, and brings to me, the joy available through God’s gift to us through His Son. Every good thing comes from Christ, and I see His influence everywhere. I saw it from a woman who paid for another woman’s items at Walmart this week. In the kindnesses of my friends. In the joy of children. In the beauty of music and nature. In the ability to create. In the love of family and friends. Most of all in the forgiveness that He gives to me for my many shortcomings, and His patience as I seek to become more like Him, however slow my progress. He is the creator, all knowing, perfectly just and perfectly merciful, a constant and ever present friend, perfectly kind and gentle, and purely loving. He is my Redeemer and He never gives up on me, or any of us. For this and so much more, I am forever in His debt and will do all I can to give Him all I have and am. Although, even with that, I can’t do it on my own. I love Him.”
-Becca from Provo, Utah
“Jesus Christ is the Redeemer and Savior of the world. He is the light, life, and hope of the world. I know that He lives. I have felt His grace in my life and am eternally indebted and grateful to Him for His complete, infinite, and continuous Atonement. He was resurrected and will return again to the earth someday. His life is central to all human history and has impacted everyone who has ever lived.”
-Nate
“I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I know that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are real. I know without question that ‘The Family- A Proclamation to the World’ is from God. Forgiveness is possible for everyone of us, even if we may convince ourselves otherwise. Repentance is actually a beautiful thing. God loves each of us individually so much. More than we could possibly know. I’m so grateful for the spiritual experiences that I’ve had, and for the questions and prayers answered. Obedience really brings forth the blessings of Heaven. As far as we may feel from the Savior or from Heavenly Father, He is always there for us cheering us on, or walking beside us. God is good. I’m so grateful for the restoration of the gospel, and for all the Prophets who brought us to this point. For their obedience, diligence, and testimonies. I love the Lord, even though I make many mistakes, and could do better, I still love Him, because He loves me perfectly and I want to be like Him. I write that in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
-Alicia from Calgary, Alberta, Canada
“Jesus Christ’s example to me has helped me to have perspective on trials in this life. He endured all things so that I may have power to overcome my struggles just by having faith and asking for his Infinite help. He also shows me how to treat others, and is a good example of patience and understanding of others faults and mistakes. He helps calm my fears and lifts up my spirit when I need it. I am so grateful to Him and I love Him dearly.”
-Jessica
“I am incredibly grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He is real. I know that His atonement is real. I know that I have been cleansed through the atonement and that because of my Savior I am able to become better. I am not perfect. And I don’t have to be. There is so much hope that comes from the gospel of Christ. With Christ all things are possible!”
-Stephanie from Provo, Utah
“Jesus Christ is my rock and my hope. His Atoning sacrifice has made it possible for me to repent and to be forgiven and to receive strength, healing and light. His joyous Gospel brings blessings to my life each day and essential guidance through this journey in life. This year my testimony of Christ has been especially strengthened through reading the Book of Mormon and what it teaches me of His infinite mercy and love.”
-Laura from Boston, Massachusetts
“Having been born into the Gospel, I don’t remember ever NOT having a testimony of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. As an adult, I have gained a deeper knowledge of many things. I know that Christ is my elder brother, my Savior and my Redemption. Without his atoning sacrifice, we would be nothing. I know that God the Father and Jesus Christ are real and that they know me by name. I know the Book of Mormon is an inspired book for us, so with the Bible, we may all return to live with our Heavenly family. I love this knowledge. It gives me power. I know that we are guided by a living Prophet. I am grateful for this knowledge.”
-Robie
“Christ is my personal savior. He knows my struggles and my triumphs. He loves me and he wants me to be happy. He is my advocate with the Father. He wants me to live with Him and Heavenly Father again and has shown me the way. I love Him and am grateful that He has provided the means possible to repent and come into Him. In his sacred name, Jesus Christ, amen.”
-Cami
“I know our Savior lives and knows each of us personally. Trying to be like Jesus truly brings happiness. If you are experiencing a sadness in your life I challenge you to find someone to serve as the savior would and I promise you will find a peace and joy in your life. It will help you to remember why we are here and because of the savior we can return to our heavenly father again.”
-Julie from Sparks, Nevada
“I know Christ is my Savior, my Redemeer, and my friend. I cannot comprehend how much love he has for me, but I know he loves me and us and gave his life for us, so we can become like him and our Father in Heaven. I feel his love, and his love makes me move forward with faith.”
-Susan from Utah
“My favorite part of Christmas is the increased focus that many of us put on the life and gift of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The fact that he is a God yet would condescend to come live in mortality in poor circumstances, be treated unfairly, and let his life be taken shows his complete selflessness. Though this supreme sacrifice is hard to comprehend, it inspires me every day of my life.
“He is my best friend whose example and teachings help me solve every quandary I am confronted with in my life. The answer to the questions ‘would he be proud of me if I do this?’ or ‘will this choice help me become more like him?’ guide me constantly.
“I am so very grateful for his atoning sacrifice which I’m sure was agonizing yet full of such love during the entire process. I have hope. I have motivation. I have happiness because of him.”
-Lori from Kaysville, Utah
“Jesus is the Christ, my Savior and Redeemer. I know this because his Holy Spirit has born testimony of Him to me countless times, and I have come to learn that this still, small voice is absolutely never wrong. I am striving to understand what this means, having a Savior, an Advocate with the Father, as I struggle daily to apply His atoning power. And I choose to place my trust and faith in Jesus Christ.”
-Megan from Provo, Utah
“I know that Jesus Christ is my redeemer and savior. I have found that I am truly happy when I follow his example of reaching out to others in love and serving them. I know that He knows me, and I am grateful to be able to get to know him better each day as I study his words and teachings.”
-Mark from Phoenix, Arizona
“In a world full of heartache, despair, confusion, comparison, and frustration, I testify that there is a source of peace, love, joy, and hope! That source is our Savior, Jesus Christ. This Christmas season, I feel so blessed to know that he is my Savior, my Redeemer, and The Prince of Peace in my life. I know that as we turn to Him with all our hearts and allow Him to change us, we will become the people God intends us to be. I know that Jesus Christ was born that first Christmas in the humblest of ways, descending below all things because He loves us. I pray that all will feel His love and peace on this Christmas Day!”
